Act Raiser for SNES
Review #6
Act Raiser
One of a kind
Gameplay
Has two distinct styles - action platformer and top-down city building
Gameplay is greater than the sum of its parts.
Platformer gameplay is tight if a little stiff - gotta take your time
Hitboxes all make sense unlike the sequel
Big sweeping sword makes it easy to hit all enemies both high and low - no cheap hits here.
Excellent controls in the top-down levels. Enormous grid makes it easy to target your god-like attacks.
Level Design
Great level design - lots of variety and very notable and memorable stages.
RTS levels are fun diversions and make the game an unforgettable experience.
Theme
Narrative is affecting with small scale concerns of the people - pretty deep spiritual stuff that somehow got the greenlight from Nintendo's censors
Art Style
Simple but timeless graphics
Audio
Best soundtrack on the system bar none
