Barkley: Shut Up and Jam! 2
Barkley, Shut UpGenre: sports - basketball
Publisher: Accolade
Year: 1995
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Slow movement. Terribly slow animation when passing and shooting. Opponents move twice as fast as you. Basically impossible to complete a pass without it getting stolen. Plays worse than the first game. Steal/push is hard to connect with. You control the same player but it switches to your teammate sometimes. I can't figure out what causes the switch so it's annoying.
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
Tournament and exhibition Only 2v2
Theme Score: 0
Theme Notes:
This is one of those "street" sports games that were so prevalent in the late 90s. The list of players looks like a prison roster. A bunch of gangstas. I couldn't even find Charles Barkley so I'm not sure where he is or how to play as him. It feels like his name was tacked on.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Fluid anmiation and well drawn sprites. Very grainy artwork and no animation or anything interesting in the backgrounds. At least there are multiple arenas.
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
Clear voice samples who mostly just smack talk Music is a hip hop beat. Sounds are too loud and abrasive. Dribbling the ball is a constant, loud drumbeat. A steal attempt sounds like loudly swinging a samuari sword. It's really loud
