Cacoma Knight in Bizyland

The AnimeQix

Genre: arcade - n/a

Publisher: Seta

Year: 1992

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

It's Qix. Move along the border of the screen and draw lines which eventually split the screen into two pieces. Fill the required amount of the screen to complete the level. Gameplay is sort of like Tron Light Cycles or Snake. Hold B to move faster along the outer edge. Powerups let you move faster while drawing. Enemies walk along the outer edge so you have to leave safety to avoid them. This aspect reminds me of Yar's Revenge where there's a safe space that you have to leave in order to make progress. Crippling slowdown at times

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

All levels are the same rectangular area with the only differences being the enemies that are floating inside the arena and the number and speed of enemies along the outer edge. Definitely repetitive gameplay and requires a ton of luck to succeed.

Theme Score: 5

Theme Notes:

Super silly story. A peaceful kingdom is attacked by the evil witch of Lazyland and the princess is kidnapped (naturally) and locked in a mirror. Everyone in the kingdom who does nothing but play games all day were spared from the witch's curse and the king enlists you, because you're a lazy gamer, to help him rescue the princess. So funny!

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Anime cut scenes introduce the wacky story Everything is super colorful although the background can be somewhat distracting. They're well drawn but might be a little too colorful. At least they aren't animated!

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

Pleasant and cheerful music and sounds. Lovely stuff

Overall Score: 74
