NBA Live starring DukeGenre: sports - basketball
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Year: 1995
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Arcade mode eliminates all fouls and out of bounds and everything else. Opponents never miss a short, even on Beginner difficulty. Make sure to turn on Auto shooting to ensure that you basically hit every shot too Players move around crazy fast. Too fast to stick with the guy you're defending. Very floaty controls. Still fun despite the weird, floaty controls.
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Exhibition and tournament Lots of options to toggle to make the game play the way you'd like.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
Only a handful of college teams. Wish it had more. Not a big fan of NCAA basketball
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
Animates very well. Player sprites are varied and impressively drawn. The crowd just sits there but whatever.
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
Quite possibly the worst crowd noise I've ever heard. It's the scratchiest sound you could imagine and it plays nonstop. Horrible. The halftime music has a 70s vibe that wouldn't be out of place in an episode of Shaft. Truly strange. The title music has a completely different, robotic feel to it. It's like they grabbed one song each from three different composers. Weird
