Rolling Thunder meets CabalGenre: action - gun
Publisher: Sega
Year: 1991
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 4
Gameplay Notes:
Combination of the side scrolling and bonus levels of a Shinobi game. Enemies appear on two separate planes and you use a gun or a punch to take out foes in the foreground and a machine gun to take out foes in the background. Plays a lot like Rolling Thunder or Shinobi. The easiest way to progress is to walk until enemies spawn, duck, then take them out. Pretty simple. Super slow movement. Feels a bit like Robocop games. Short jump only useful for climbing platform obstacles. Controls are responsive if extremely limited. Destructible environment is fun
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Levels switch between allowing you to use a gun and not being able to. Luckily most do. Plays a bit like a shooter where waves of enemies appear and based on their color you know how they'll behave. Keeps you on your toes.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Based on the ancient serial comic from the 20s or 1930s. Had a definitive Elliot Ness vs Al Capone vibe. Clean, consistent tone and setting.
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
Well drawn and large sprites. Well animated. Bright, clean colors. Simple but effective
Audio Score: 4

Nice times and sound effects. Sounds a lot like Rolling Thunder.
