Dig & Spike Volleyball for SNES

Dig & Spike Volleyball

Play the beach volleyball mode

Genre: sports - volleyball

Publisher: Hudson Soft

Year: 1993

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

3/4 top view makes it challenging to get your positioning right but it's manageable. Moving your two rows of players is foosball style - up and down for the front row and R and L to move the back row. The real problem is the pace of the game. Things move quickly but individual plays are so dang fast. There's no way to react and even if you could there's so much randomness. I don't feel like I have any control.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

The full team mode is terrible but the beach volleyball is a bit better. It still feels completely random but tracking two characters feels a bit better. Having both options is nice.

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

It's volleyball. Beach volleyball is included and frankly that's far more appealing.

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Decent sprites and animation. Not too shabby

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Standard Hudson sounds are nice

Overall Score: 35
