Flintstones the Movie

Play the other one. This is the movie tie-in

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Ocean

Year: 1995

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Short jump Wall grab that is activated only of you're perfectly lined up and hit jump button at right time. Best to stand under and jump then mash jump button. Attacks include club, bowling ball, and throw rock, each with dedicated button. Have to pick up ball and rock ammo after throwing. Short level timer Stupid health meter on HUD with Fred's face - why do western games do this? Floaty controls but manageable Can't attack while jumping

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

Looks good on paper but the ledge grabs are annoying and frequent. Combat isn't satisfying at all. Blind jumps everywhere

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

People want to play a video game as Fred Flintstone?

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Weird conflict of styles. Fred looks like a normal fat human but other stories are strikingly different. Other cavemen look like a different species. Otherwise impressive late-gen graphics. Great animation, backgrounds, use of color, shading, parallax.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Not bad

Overall Score: 44
