Gain Ground for Genesis

Image: MobyGames

Gain Ground

Cross-pollination of Bomberman, Gauntlet, and Smash TV

Genre: action - gun

Publisher: Renovation Products

Year: 1991

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Crazy slow movement, but I don't mind it much because everything moves slowly. Plays a bit like a mix between Gauntlet and Smash TV. All levels are a single screen and the objective is to defeat all enemies. 5 or 6 characters to plays as. Some can fire at enemies who are up on ledges. Everything is a one hit kill

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

Every level has 10 rounds. Probably a long ish game. Set up a lot like Bomberman. Enemies and layouts keep things interesting.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Hack and slash setting. No story that I can tell. Just pick a fighter and go

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

NES quality graphics Only uses half of the screen Simple but works well

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

Love the music. Well orchestrated and used nice sounds such as the Genesis chimes.

Overall Score: 68

Review ID: 936
