Greendog: The Beached Surfer Dude!
Dude. Beach dude bro dude.Genre: action - platform
Publisher: Sega
Year: 1992
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 2
Gameplay Notes:
Floaty controls plus small platforms. Attack with a frisbee which takes a strange looping path. Enemies pop out and have no hit box. Terrible hit detection. It's generous both ways but still annoying. Greendog's sprite is enormous - takes up half the height of the screen.
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
Typical Western dev stuff for the most part. Long levels with a steady stream of the same stuff over and over. Movement is slow with infinitely spawning enemies and floaty mechanics. Every three levels or so there's a weird mini game style interlude, like a shooter-esque levels where you're riding a unicycle helicopter. Yeah it's weird.
Theme Score: 0
Theme Notes:
Uhhh. Such 90s crap. A man-child doofus. I mean, dude. A bikini clad girl informs you that you're cursed to gather ancient relics.
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
The graphics weren't horrible but the main sprite is truly pathetic. It's a step down from Lester the Unlikely, if you can believe that.
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
Yet another Genesis games with obnoxious music which uses grating sounds. Not the worst I've heard but it's pretty bad
