HardBall III for Genesis
Review #4243
HardBall III
Slow and steady wins the game
Gameplay
Extremely slow gameplay makes for a thoughtful, simulation experience.
All swings have exactly four possible outcomes with only one being a hit.
You can choose contact type (power, contact, bunt, hit & run, etc)
You mostly just watch things happen. Minimal interactivity
A game would take forever to finish
Level Design
Exhibition and season modes and practice
Theme
No MLBPA or MLB license but all the teams are available.
Feels like an old timey baseball game presentation. Like you're watching a newsreel footage of a 1920s game.
Al Michaels does play by play.
Art Style
Grainy, watched out graphics
Slow, choppy animation
Audio
The play by play is neat. Until it's not. Sound effects are hollow.
