HardBall III
Slow and steady wins the gameGenre: sports - baseball
Publisher: Accolade
Year: 1993
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 2
Gameplay Notes:
Extremely slow gameplay makes for a thoughtful, simulation experience. All swings have exactly four possible outcomes with only one being a hit. You can choose contact type (power, contact, bunt, hit & run, etc) You mostly just watch things happen. Minimal interactivity A game would take forever to finish
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Exhibition and season modes and practice
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
No MLBPA or MLB license but all the teams are available. Feels like an old timey baseball game presentation. Like you're watching a newsreel footage of a 1920s game. Al Michaels does play by play.
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
Grainy, watched out graphics Slow, choppy animation
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
The play by play is neat. Until it's not. Sound effects are hollow.
