International Superstar Soccer for SNES

International Superstar Soccer

The one with turbo

Genre: sports - soccer

Publisher: Konami

Year: 1995

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Has a turbo (aka dash) button! Hallelujah Also includes pass, shoot, and lob buttons. Deep gameplay. Tons of strategies to pick and obvious ability to set up plays. Opponents don't swarm to you which gives you time to think and set things up. If I liked soccer I might enjoy this more. View is side-on making it more accessible than FIFA in my mind.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

All the regular game modes (exhibition, tournaments) plus training, scenarios, and penalty kick mini games.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

I hate soccer

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Incredible sprites and animation. Easily the best looking soccer franchise on SNES. Has a crowd that looks like it belongs in a NASCAR game.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Crowd noise complemented by great Konami sound effects and menu music.

Overall Score: 50

Review ID: 238
