John Madden Football for SNES
Review #256
John Madden Football
You gotta start somewhere
Gameplay
Slideshow quality animation
Running game is more than adequate
Passing game on the other hand is rough. Every throw is a moonshot that arrives long after the receiver has stopped to watch it fall toward them.
Game speed is very good compared to other football games.
Ok but not quite a good game because of the framerate issues
Extremely easy to beat your opponents mercilessly
Level Design
Exhibition, playoff, and season modes
No individual player stats
Suggested plays are nice. Just hit B three times to pick the recommended play
Theme
No NFL or NFLPA
Barebones presentation
Art Style
Tiny sprites that look ok but framerate is really bad.
Scaling of the field is very choppy.
Early SNES game hasn't aged well
Audio
White crowd noise.
Sound effects are ok. Not obnoxious
