John Madden Football

You gotta start somewhere

Genre: sports - football

Publisher: Elec Arts

Year: 1991

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Slideshow quality animation Running game is more than adequate Passing game on the other hand is rough. Every throw is a moonshot that arrives long after the receiver has stopped to watch it fall toward them. Game speed is very good compared to other football games. Ok but not quite a good game because of the framerate issues Extremely easy to beat your opponents mercilessly

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Exhibition, playoff, and season modes No individual player stats Suggested plays are nice. Just hit B three times to pick the recommended play

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

No NFL or NFLPA Barebones presentation

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Tiny sprites that look ok but framerate is really bad. Scaling of the field is very choppy. Early SNES game hasn't aged well

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

White crowd noise. Sound effects are ok. Not obnoxious

Overall Score: 45

Review ID: 256
