Klax
Stop trying to make Klax happenGenre: puzzle - blocks
Publisher: Tengen
Year: 1990
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Capture falling tiles and stack them to match 3. Ho hum. Hard to tell how far away the tiles are. Gets monotonous rather quickly. Not particularly challenging or interesting.
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Broken up into short segments called waves. Each race has a completion criteria such as survive 40 tiles, or complete 3 diagonal Klaxs. I like how they did this rather than having an endless stream of tiles.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
Strange 90s stuff that wouldn't be out of place in a Ren & Stimpy episode. Checkerboards are everywhere and weird stuff like a huge hand holding the conveyer belt where the tiles travel along.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Not much to look at. Eclectic artwork
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
Oh boy. The one and only song is one of the most obnoxious noises I've heard in a video game. Thankfully it can be turned off. Sound effects are fine although the sound of the tiles rolling gets old quickly
