Mega Man X for SNES
Review #329
Mega Man X
The measuring stick
Gameplay
Tight controls
Only downside is charge beam - would rather charge automatically to save my poor thumb
Dash is on opposite button from charge
Dash is awesome
Wall climb but you slide down so gotta keep moving
Level Design
Levels are full of enemies and interesting obstacles
Screen transitions give you a moment to breath and give a sense of progression
Very linear levels - that's a good thing in this genre
Theme
Typical Mega Man stuff, although you aren't Mega Man - you're "X"
You start out as a weak non-combat robot and have to power yourself up. Meanwhile you meet Zero who seems far more capable than you. Why not play as him?
Bosses are less memorable than MM games
Art Style
Wonderful pixel artwork
Great effects like explosions and weapon shots
Audio
Rockin tunes
Fantastic sound effects that compliment the action perfectly
