NBA All-Star Challenge

NbaWare, Inc.: Crappy Microgames!

Genre: sports - basketball

Publisher: LJN

Year: 1992

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 0

Gameplay Notes:

Less a basketball than a minigames collection. Completely pointless as a one player game cuz the computer never misses a shot. Floaty controls in 1v1 makes offense a breeze and defense impossible. All other games are just shooting which is just pressing A twice in the proper cadence. Barely any gameplay here.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

Which of these sounds like a fun time: Free Throws 3 Point Challenge Horse 1v1 Yeah, the first three are the same thing. Shoot a jump shot. And 1v1 is just go left to run around the defender and lay up the ball. So boring

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

A basketball where you can't play a game of basketball. Brilliant

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Player models are good for an early SNES game. Reflection is cool but pointless.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

Menu music is ok. No music in game and aside from the nice swish sound there's nothing worth mentioning.

Overall Score: 12

Review ID: 358
