NBA Live 95

The best EA basketball title

Genre: sports - basketball

Publisher: Elec Arts

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Fast smooth gameplay. Opponents don't stick to you like glue so it's possible to maneuver and pass the ball to create space. Floaty controls take some getting used to, especially when shooting and blocking. Controls are weird. The A button both attempts to steal and shoots do it's easy to steal and immediately launch a full court shot. Meanwhile in defense X jumps to block instead of A. Not intuitive.

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

So many options to tell the game just the way you like. Turn off all rules like fouls or goaltending to make it an NBA Jam style game.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Not the biggest fan of basketball games but this has everything and my Sonics are the top team.

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Smooth animation. Looks and moves great.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Annoying menu music

Overall Score: 68
