Pac-In-Time for SNES
Review #403
Pac-In-Time
Pac-Man's attempt at Mario
Gameplay
Short jump but if you hold the jump button you'll bounce about twice the height of the jump. Weird mechanic to get used to. Makes platforming maddeningly difficult.
Massive draw distance issues - 20% while running
Shoot pellets to kill enemies.
Very floaty controls. Pac-Man stops moving half a second after you stop pressing the d-pad
Umihara style tether let's you swing from the ceiling. However it shoots straight above your present location so works terrible for movement. Bionic Commando this is not.
Some good ideas but none are executed very well.
Level Design
Typical labyrinths where you mist collect something to open the exit.
Lots of slopes mean Pac-Man is constantly sliding around making it even more difficult to control him.
Theme
Pac-Man as a baby has to defeat a ghost witch.
Art Style
Well animated and well drawn.
Simple backgrounds and clean artwork overall.
Sprites are tiny
Audio
Incredibly repetitive music.
Eating a big pellet lets you eat ghosts but plays one of the worst music tracks I've ever heard
