Technoclash for Genesis

Technoclash

I'm in a casino for earthers

Genre: action - gun

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Year: 1993

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Super slow movement. Top down perspective. Enemies largely remain stationary and wait for you to kill them. Those that mine do so much faster than you. You can choose from 9 weapons assigned to letters which obviously show this was once a PC game. The weapons are the only real fun to be had. First level end with a boss who can't be killed. Neat

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

First level is a hallway with stationary enemies and a boss who can't be killed. Yeah I'm out.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

No idea what's going on storywise or setting wise. Some guy asks me where I am. I say I'm in a casino for earthers, which I assume means there are aliens and this is sci-fi. But then the guy says it's too dangerous for me to be without a bodyguard. And then I'm some sort of magician with projectile spells or something. It's bizarre.

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

Embarrassingly poor artwork. Looks like Ultima with chunky sprites and even power resolution. Some of the grainiest graphics on the Genesis. Animation isn't horrible but man is this game ugly. It came out a year after Contra 3 but looks like a 1988 PC game.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

Well composed song wihit played with ugly Genesis burps and farts noises. Yuck.

Overall Score: 17
