Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters

I would've preferred a Turtles in Time sequel

Genre: fighting - 1v1

Publisher: Konami

Year: 1993

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Shallow gameplay. Really only two attack buttons. Only one special move Take no damage while blocking so you or enemy can just sit back and wait the clock out if you want to. Pretty lame. Responsive controls Only 4 fighters to choose from I Story mode. Guess which ones?

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

Some nice arenas with a bit of animation and even some destructible elements

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Ninja Turtles are awesome

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Large sprites Good animation Everything is well drawn The Turtles look weird. I'm just so used to the original cartoon designs and the original comic book designs that anything else looks strange but these are just unappealing

Audio Score: 5

Audio Notes:

Music is outstanding but what would you expect from early 90s Konami? Borrows heavily from Legend of the Mystical Ninja and TMNT IV. Sounds are awesome with satisfying crunches when a hit lands. Sounds like an Indiana Jones flick.

Overall Score: 72
