Time Trax for SNES

Image: MobyGames

Time Trax

Time Cop starring The Fonz

Genre: action - gun

Publisher: Malibu

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

Appears to be the same engine used in 3 Ninjas. Infinitely spawning enemies - why do they do this? You've got a gun with stuns enemies and kills them after many hits as well as melee attacks which deal more damage. You can duck under most enemy attacks making it easy to dispatch of them. Short jumps but you can grab onto some ledges to shimmy along or pull yourself to a higher ledge. Kinda cool

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Mostly linear levels. Go to the right. There's a ton of reuse so there's nothing interesting or memorable but not bad overall. At least you don't have to collect X trinkets to complete a level

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

A poor man's Time Cop. I guess it's based on a Making comic book but I don't remember it.

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Lots of foreground layers blocking your view. Decent use of color. Ok sprites, but not exceptional. Your character looks like the Fonzie from Happy Days.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Decent music. It has an early 90s techno vibe. It's much quieter the sound effects which are positively awful. Your laser gun and punches sound like they're lifted from a kids game.

Overall Score: 70
