Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose

Worth it just for the football stage

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Konami

Year: 1992

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Spot-on controls. Attack with a backflip that is a short hop + a slight movement forward. Hit box of the attack is weird and you get hit as often as you give damage. A more normal attack and this game is a bona fide classic. Dash via R or L and invulnerable while dashing but it only lasts for a couple of seconds unless you get a pickup which fills the "Dash" meter. Use Dash to climb walls No timer. If not for the weird backflip mechanic this would be up there with the Mario games as one of the very best platformers. Easy to read hud

Level Design Score: 5

Level Design Notes:

Fun random stuff like jump roping 10 times before you can proceed, horses kicking you into the air, movie themed levels like a Star Wars theme. Minigames between each level. Tons of variety Very short levels and only a dozen or so levels, so a short game overall

Theme Score: 5

Theme Notes:

Fantastic presentation and characters. Based on one of the best 90s cartoons.

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Excellent sprites and background artwork. Again, tons of variety and it all looks great.

Audio Score: 5

Audio Notes:

Really nice music and sounds. Standard Konami goodness

Overall Score: 78
