Gameplay

Incredibly fast gameplay. Same forgiving controls as the other Top Gear games. Options for both full and half screen view.
Has some F-Zero features like areas which recharge your gas or repair your car. Seems tacked on since you can't really miss these zones so what's the point?

Theme

Weird tacked on F-Zero style galaxy-wide racing competition. I say tacked on because nothing about the graphics or gameplay suggests a futuristic setting. Just the cutscenes suggest that you're in the farflung future. Very strange. Otherwise a typical arcade racer.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
