True Golf Classics: Pebble Beach for SNES

True Golf Classics: Pebble Beach

Redrawing like internet images in 1995

Genre: sports - golf

Publisher: T&E Soft

Year: 1991

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Standard controls with a decent power meter that's easy to use. It's one that goes from 100 to 0 like the Tecmo Bowl kicking meter though, so sometimes you'll completely muff the ball. Best to just pick the next club and aim for 90%. The game plays fairly quickly which I appreciate. It's comically slow to adjust the direction but it's almost charming how slow the screen redraws. The only real problem is that the green has elevation but you can't see it so putting is unpredictable.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

Only one course. All the usual modes of play including skins and match play. Standard fare.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

Boring golf. The production value isn't bad...for a golf game.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Eh, it's better than garbage like Mechrobot Golf and the PGA games, but not by much.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

Decent sounds
