Vegas Stakes

The gambling visual novel

Genre: tabletop - cards

Publisher: Nintendo

Year: 1993

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Without a doubt the better of the two casino sims, but it's still just dumb games of chance. The game has a plot which makes it a bit more interesting and random events like people needing a ride to the E.R. or needing to sell you a watch. Kind of some dark humor and questionable moral experiences.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

The games actually play nicely, for what they are anyway. Poker is kind of fun Blackjack Roulette (uggh) Craps (worse than roulette) Slots

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

You're one of five friends and your goal is to make a bunch of money on a road trip to Vegas. So, there's a plot. I guess that makes it more interesting. There are avatars for each character including the NPCs. Gives the game some character.

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Decent animation and artwork. It's just some games but the avatars show some emotion.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

Lounge music isn't my thing

Overall Score: 26
