Marble Madness starring that hippity hippity rabbit from Frosty the SnowmanGenre: action - platform
Publisher: Titus
Year: 1996
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 4
Gameplay Notes:
First impression was very poor with confusing gameplay mechanics combined with the isometric perspective. However it grew on me quickly. Controls are very responsive. Only two buttons - jump and spin. Movement is very fast and isometric view helps you see a lot of the terrain. Objective is to find an item that opens a gate, then proceed to the next gate and eventually complete the level. Short timer is annoying at first but then a strong motivator. Reminds me of Marble Madness. Requires patience, memorization, or a good map to beat many levels
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
Platforms have varying elevations but its surprisingly easy to navigate. Levels are segmented by a gate that must be opened. Most of these segments only have two paths - one to find the key and the other for the gate - so I didn't get lost. Later Levels probably up the challenge.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
You're a magic bunny. Like the one from Frosty the Snowman maybe? Kind of weird

Art Style Notes:
Beautiful artwork. Looks like a 3D isometric Lost Vikings.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
I dig the jazzy music. And the sound effects fit the game well.
