Wolverine: Adamantium Rage for Genesis

Image: MobyGames

Wolverine: Adamantium Rage

Me: outrage

Genre: action - punch n kick

Publisher: Acclaim Entertainment

Year: 1994

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Wow this is horrible gameplay. Different game than the SNES version but equally bad in new and different ways. Completely unresponsive controls with a second of lag at least. Long animations and floaty physics make platforming nearly impossible and combat just as frustrating. Horrible hit detection as well. Multiple attacks including a kick, claw slash, backhand slash (by pressing up), and a jump kick. Enemies have collision but deal damage by bouncing off you.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

I only played the forest level and it's your typical labyrinth in short corridorsbeotj ladders and staggered stp to move between levels. Yuck

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

Wolverine is an awesome character. I'm giving this game way more time and effort because I want it to be playable, but alas, it is not. It supposedly follows the Weapon X storyline but when you take control of Wolverine he's wearing his trademark yellow spandex X-Men outfit. Uhh, did the devs read the comic book?

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Not too bad. The sprites look alright and have many frames of animation. Unfortunately they just look off, like the Spider-Man games. The backgrounds have some detail. The graphics aren't too bad.

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

Laughable music. It sounds like something that would play at a circus and not in the birthplace of the world's best assassin.

Overall Score: 23
