Captain Tsubasa 3: Koutei no Chousen for SFC
Review #2043
Captain Tsubasa 3: Koutei no Chousen
Turn-based soccer
Gameplay
Plays like the From TV Animation basketball games, in that you are presented with a turn-based menu each time the you or the opponenet approaches an opposing player. You simply select to pass, move, or shoot when on offense, and fake, sweep, or short, when on defense. I have no idea what any of those defense terms even mean. In any case, the outcome is completely random, so you may as well be rolling a dice. The game requires no skill, strategy, or thinking. Just roll the dice over and over again and hope for the best. It's as boring as it sounds.
Matches are WAY too long
Level Design
I think it's just the one story mode. The design is interesting but after a couple of minutes you've seen all the encounters and outcomes that thye game has to offer. After that it's just rinse and repeat.
Theme
I was intially intrigued by the setting and anime presentation, but quickly lost interest. Still, the animations are the only thing going for this game.
Art Style
Despite being the game's only saving grace, the artwork and animations are surprisingly tame and unintersting.
