Go! Go! Dodge League

The vertical one

Genre: sports - dodgeball

Publisher: Pack-In-Video

Year: 1993

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Uses a similar control scheme as the Kunio game where you have to press both B and Y to jump. This only works half the time. Still, movement and gameplay is brisk and feels ok. Not great, mind you.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Several mixes and options to choose from. The courts are all cosmetically different.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Cheery, arcadey vibe. Super colorful and animated, even in the menus. Upbeat and happy.

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Owing to the vertical orientation this one looks a lot more like a tennis game than any of the other dodgeball games. The sprites are much smaller and far less detailed but have a charm of their own. Again, looks a lot like Super Tennis or the Namco tennis game that I can place at the moment. Everything moves well with no slowdown. Text is large and arcadey.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

Fun, upbeat music with a saxophone sound to it. Chirpy sound effects fit the theme well. Menus have bombastic music like any good arcade game.

Overall Score: 63
