J.League Soccer Prime Goal

The one you should mute

Genre: sports - soccer

Publisher: Namco

Year: 1993

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Slow movement, although I like it because it gives you time and opportunity to pass and move the ball up the field. On fact this makes the game extremely easy. Defense is as simple as.walking right up to the opponent which automatically steals the ball. Passing and shooting work well. Despite being the rare soccer game where I can pass and score at will, the gameplay is rather dull.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Lots of modes and not too many button presses to get into a match.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

No translation but the menus are easy enough to navigate. The J League license means nothing. The real winner here is the fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the sound design ruins this, so...

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Small sprites animate well. Nice cutscenes.

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

Oh boy. A whole bunch of different kinds of crowd noise play, including noise, makers and horns and what not. It sounds like a Japanese baseball game like a real life baseball game. However, there's a single note that plays and never stops. It's so awful and made me mute the game. I would have put this to a four if it wasn't for that awful ear splitting noise.
