Little Magic for SFC

Little Magic

The Adventures of Lolo's spiritual successor

Genre: puzzle - overhead

Publisher: Altron

Year: 1993

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

Plays a lot like Adventures of Lolo, or Kickle Cubicle, albeit with no enemies to contend with. You must push a block to a certain spot to open the exit. Simple enough. You can't pull it so if you push it against a wall there's not getting it back. One added mechanic makes the game compelling, and that's the bubble. When it pops it will push the block away from it. You can make the bubble in three sizes which allows you to chain multiple bubble pops to move one bubble to move another bubble to move the block. This alone makes the game a genuine headscratcher. In a good way.

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

Tons of levels which slowly but surely ramp up the difficulty. Great stuff.

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

You're a witch. Not quite as cute or endearing as the games which inspired it.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Looks just like a NES title. In fact, I can confidently say that Lolo 3 and Kickle Cubicle each have superior graphics. It's not bad looking, but it's a far cry from the likes of the Super Bomberman games.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

There's a song for each set of 15 or so levels. They're ethereal and pleasant and match the theme of each area. Not too shabby. Also nothing to get too excited about.
