Doraemon: Nobita to Yousei no Kuni

Blue Garfield

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Hudson Soft

Year: 1991

System: PCE

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Plays very differently than the SFC version but still subpar. Floaty controls. Not terrible, but difficult to land on narrow platforms. You've got a gun that stuns enemies like Quack Attack. Right platforming and slow movement make for a boring experience.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Pretty standard platforming levels. Not much to mention. It's a linear Mario clone.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

You're a block-head cat wearing a blue hoodie. Typical mascot title.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Thoroughly unimpressive visuals, especially the backgrounds of the platformer sections which are devoid of detail. Sprites are ok although not particularly attractive. Your character is cute enough but the enemies are few and far between and simply drawn. Not bad, but just blah overall.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

Cute soundtrack with bad sound effects

Overall Score: 45
