PowerMonger

I'm Populousing my mind

Genre: strategy - rts

Publisher: Imagineer

Year: 1993

System: SNES PAL

Gameplay Score: 0

Gameplay Notes:

Uhh...wut? I literally have no clue what I'm doing here. Y cycles between the menu, the viewing area, and the map, and some clock/scale thing. X toggles between the menu and the map for some reason. A and B are the "Close Door" button in an elevator, as in they do nothing. R and L allow you to rotate the map view, which is an improvement over the Genesis version. Notice that none of these buttons actually does anything other than select a different view. That's all I can figure out. This game is stupid.

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

No idea what to do. This is a horribly designed piece of software. Maybe it's playable with a guide and a mouse on an old DOS PC but it should be banished from memory as soon as possible.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

Nameless, featureless swords and sandals sort of setting...I guess.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Looks a lot like Populous with an isometric plot of land sitting between menus on either side and sitting on what looks like the floor of the Parthenon. The polygonal land looks quite ugly and a sparse amount of color is used. Most everything is black, grey, and red.

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

There's no music and every sound effect is obnoxious and incessant, like the sound of an army marching is a horrible beating noise that will NOT stop. Same with the stupid birds that chirp incessantly when a forest is on the map. Make it stop!

Overall Score: 5
