Alien Storm for Genesis

Alien Storm

I'm stunned

Genre: action - beat em up

Publisher: Sega

Year: 1991

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Movement is good enough. There's no jump but you can roll to get across the screen quickly. Attacks include firing your flamethrower and a roll kick. Enemies have a long reach and stun lock you almost endlessly. Super annoying. Attacks have extremely long animations which leave you vulnerable. The limited moveset ultimately gets boring. I would've preferred the flamethrower as a pickup rather than the regular attack.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

Incredibly boring level design. Just walk right. No memorable sequences.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

You're basically Ripley at the end of Aliens. Bring it on

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Small sprites. Only a handful of enemies. Decent animation. Huge HUD covers 1/4 of screen. It's ok but not amazing

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

Extremely simple, grating, repetitive sounds. Music got on my nerves.

Overall Score: 54

Review ID: 739
