Arkanoid: Doh It Again
One player PongGenre: arcade - n/a
Publisher: Nintendo
Year: 1997
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
One player Pong with a few powerups to make things interesting. Levels are pretty short. The paddle is a bit too slow which gives the game its challenge. Even so it's pretty fun in short spurts
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Levels have different designs somewhat like Bust a Move. Definitely some levels I enjoyed and others that were obnoxious, especially those with unbreakable blocks or blocks very low to the bottom of the screen.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
The Doh it Again tagline has to be one of the dumbest things I've seen. Also, adding a story is completely unnecessary and cringeworthy. Still, the presentation is nice.
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
Again, it's Pong so not much going on visually, but they added some interesting touches like an animated background and effects that play when blocks are hit. It looks retro but with a bit of modern touches. Like any decent and recent Tetris game.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
Nice sounds effects. Or more accurately, sound effect.
