Brainies
Misadventures of LoloGenre: puzzle - overhead
Publisher: Titus
Year: 1996
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Plays like Adventures of Lolo where you have to get the blocks called Brainies onto the matching colored tile. Brainies can only move in a straight line and must go all the way to the wall. Ridiculously difficult since you're given barely enough time to complete each puzzle and only 3 continues which are used up when you fail to complete the puzzle. Even with save states I started failing at level 17 and then lost interest. Has two views to switch between - 2D where you are directly overhead and 3D where the board is slightly askew. For no apparent reason you can only move the tile while in the 3D view. This sucks because the 3D view is horrible. Baffling design decison
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
The puzzle designs are interesting and challenging. Reminds me of the Quell mobile game series
Theme Score: 0
Theme Notes:
There's nothing appealing about the Brainies or the game around them. Titus went for a touch of edginess but failed miserably
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
Very plain, very boring graphics overall. The so-called "3D" view really destroys what could've been a good-enough looking puzzle game. The ugly Brainies clinch the deal
Audio Score: 0
Audio Notes:
Horrible music and sound effects. Mute the game
