Cadash for Genesis
Review #4088
Cadash
Conan with a dash of Castlevania 2
Gameplay
Stiff movement, like a Castlevania game.
Once you jump there's no going back, again like Castlevania or Ghouls n Ghosts.
Three attacks - B to thrust, up+B to attack with a wide arc that reaches upward, and jump+B for a downward thrust. Nice variety of attacks.
Because of the stiff movement the focus is on avoiding damage. You can't just run in guns blazing. Or sword blazing, I guess.
Light RPG elements. And when I say light, I mean VERY light. You gain experience as you kill the infinitely spawning enemies so be prepared to grind. Collect herbs and elixirs to restore health, lift curses, etc.
Reminds me a bit of Castlevania 2 for NES.
There's no save or passwords so you have to beat it in one go. Unless you're using save states, that is.
Level Design
Pretty standard stuff. Visit a town, learn about their plight, and then venture into a level to destroy a boss. The levels themselves are also basic, but they do the job.
Theme
Generic Conan stuff
Art Style
Nothing special going on. The artwork is well-drawn with a bit of detail. But the graphics and character models are not special in any way. There's nothing distinct or interesting about the game's visuals.
Audio
Good but unremakable
