Gameplay

It's chess.
While in 3D the view is so askew that it's hard to grab the piece ahead of another one.
Would be more fun to play 2 player.

Level Design

Quite a few settings to adjust on the pause menu. Difficult levels, change view to 2D or war room, and chess sets. There's only the one chess board tho.

Not much ambiance. It's just a chess board

Uggh. The music is horrible and the only sound is a fanfare that plays after every move.

There's an optional Active Battle System and an innovative Single and Team techniques system. No grinding necessary. An assortment of sidequests and minigames like the actions you take at the Millennial Fair which influence how the trial plays out. One thing that I greatly appreciate is that you are never alone in a one-character party. You are joined by 3 other playable characters within the first hour of play. Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
