Gameplay

Same game, but with a couple of unhelpful additions such as a Hot Spot where you have a higher chance of making your shot and a Juice mode which makes you zip around too fast.

More modes, theoretically. I can't imagine playing more than one game so I would never use the tournament mode.

Theme

Just a bunch of no-name players on college squads. Playing as Sht Grd and Ctr isn't as fun as Payton and Kemp.

Good. The sprites are slightly smaller than NBA Jam but they animate better.

Audio

What happened? The voices sound great but the music that plays? So bad. The sound effects are also awful. A dunk sounds like smashing a Goomba.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
