Cosmic Spacehead for Genesis

Cosmic Spacehead

Point n click n platform

Genre: adventure - point n click

Publisher: Codemasters

Year: 1993

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Equal parts point n click and platformer. Both modes are extremely simple, like an introductory game made for beginners. Nice, simple controls in the PnC sections. Just press B to cycle through the commands and then click on things with A. Puzzles are short and simple as there are only 3 or 4 clickable things on each screen. Platforming sections must be endured. You have no offensive capabilities and everything is a one hit kill. I had a little fun but this would have zero staying power beyond one short playthrough.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

Again this is an extremely simple game. Looks and feels like a pre-Maniac Mansion title, even though it released several years later.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

Super kiddy. Feels like a late 80s educational cartoon. Not exactly my jam these days.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Looks like an NES or SMS game. Oh wait, it is. That said, the graphics are colorful and cute.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

You don't have to mute it, but you'll turn it down if anyone walks by, lest they think you're into this sort of thing.

Overall Score: 40
