Darkwing Duck for TurboGrafx-16

Image: MobyGames

Darkwing Duck

This game is a terror that flaps in the night

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: NEC

Year: 1992

System: TurboGrafx-16

Gameplay Score: 0

Gameplay Notes:

Some of the worst movement I've ever experienced. Unbelievably slippery controls. Long animations make the controls even more laggy than the slipperiness creates. Virtually unplayable. Very limited ammo. I arrived at a boss without enough ammo to kill him and had no way to win. Some ammo doesn't even deal damage to enemies. Horrible, horrible, horrible movement and platforming. The game must've been rushed to market. Simple things aren't complete, like the ammo counter can't display a double digit number.

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

They tried, but the gameplay makes the level design even worse. Tiny platforms and enemies jumping around make this game impossible.

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

Darkwing Duck is awesome but like TaleSpin this game makes it look so dumb.

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

Zero frames of animation. This is an embarrassment

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

Horrible music. Barely any sounds are played. Again, this game is incomplete

Overall Score: 5
