Dennis the Menace for SNES

Image: MobyGames

Dennis the Menace

The most unnecessary movie license ever

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Ocean

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

I feel like a broken record. All these licensed western dev games have the same problems. Excessive animation Poor platforming Floaty controls Enemies take too much damage Poor draw distance Aimless objectives No sense of achievement Too low of a jump

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

No structure whatsoever. Just wander around the main floor, basement, and second floor of Mr Wilson's house killing our avoiding dozens of mice and cats. This guy should pay you for pest control at his Mansion. Instead he runs out of the blue and grabs you which results in a lost life. Reminds me of the abominable snowman in Ski for MS-DOS

Theme Score: 0

Theme Notes:

Stupid concept. No objective whatsoever

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Typical licensed stuff Excessive animation that doesn't even stop for the Pause screen Colorful with good shading and sprite work is ok but literally nothing interesting to look at. Ever inch of the house looks the same

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

Nothing noteworthy

Overall Score: 23

Review ID: 133
