Elite Soccer

The fast one

Genre: sports - soccer

Publisher: Gametek

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Fast movement. Very responsive controls. Your player can turn on a dime unlike many other soccer games. View is behind the net so you're either going up or down the field. Passes usually connect with a teammate even if he's offscreen. Games are very short - maybe only 3 minutes total.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Exhibition and some tournament modes but I didn't play them. Its still just a soccer pitch. The view is big enough that you can generally see someone to pass to and where to spot so I never got lost like other soccer games.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

It's soccer. I hate soccer. Menus are stupid looking, with a rotating set of icons ala Secret of Mana's ring system. Back is a dumb looking book with an arrow above it. It just looks chinsy

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Everything looks low rez but it moves at breakneck speed so kudos for making an arcade style game out of the world's slowest sport.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

Crowd noise. Ok sounds, I guess. Mostly just whistles

Overall Score: 44
