Emmitt Smith Football

The one with camera control

Genre: sports - football

Publisher: JVC

Year: 1995

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

When you've got the ball and are running in open space it plays great. Slow pace overall since you have to watch your team huddle up after every play Gimmick is that you can rotate camera to switch between behind, isometric, and side view camera. So it's either Madden, Play Action, or Tecmo clone Passing is strange with a gauge to determine the height or maybe speed of throw. Regardless of what I do the ball is lofted skyhigh and takes so long that both the intended receiver and one or more defenders camp out underneath the ball to wait for it. It's a crapshoot on whether or not my guy catches it. Have the devs never seen a football game before? Running is good as hit detection makes sense. Physics are off - sometimes players bounce off each other and go flying 10-15 yards without being knocked down.

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

The only mode is to play a single game

No

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Barebones artwork. Animation is ok. Makes heavy use of mode 7 rotation, even during a kickoff which is disorienting

Audio Notes:

Crowd noise that sounds like a white noise maker Really poor quality voice soundbites
