Falcon

Nothing to see here

Genre: simulation - flight

Publisher: TTI

Year: 1992

System: TurboGrafx-16

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

As far as 8/16-bit flight sims go this one performs fine. It's unbearably slow and choppy by modern standards but there is a bit of immersion to be had. But no, this isn't a great gaming experience. Movement is sluggish and turns are unacceptably slow. Dogfighting is completely impossible. In fact, you know what, I'll just call it. This is a bad game.

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

I'm completely lost. Unless your target is on screen you'll never find it. There's no map, no arrows pointing which way to go, no visual clues whatsoever where to go or what to do. And you had better have memorized the mission briefing because there's no way to review it once you're in the cockpit. Utterly and completely baffling.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

You're an F-18 pilot flying sorties in some unnamed Middle Eastern theater of war. How original. Mission briefings and a still image of you celebrating post-mission are the only source of personality.

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

Choppy and bland. The HUD is also extremely busy.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

I hope you enjoy the hum of an engine
