Frantic Flea
Dr. Suess Pest ControlGenre: action - platform
Publisher: Gametek
Year: 1995
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 2
Gameplay Notes:
Strange concept. Gather X number of little fleas and bring them to the exit. Maybe like Krusty's Fun House? Hit detection is horrible. Sometimes you pick up a flea while other times they walk right through you. Drop all fleas when you're hit. Kind of like Sonic collecting rings. Enemies move fast and you only have 40% draw distance so get hit everytime an enemy comes on screen. Luckily you can spin like Taz constantly which damaged enemies, so just hold down that button and walk around. Decidedly unfun. Have a dash button which is utterly useless. Exit is nondescript part of the background so use trial and error to find it. At least this game gives you a clue to collect X before exiting. Better than most western dev games. Lots of background items that look like machinery or something. None can be interacted with but a few deal damage when they shoot bolts of electricity. Other items have electrical bolts but don't deal damage.
Level Design Score: 0
Level Design Notes:
Design is a generous word to use to describe the levels in this game. It's just a series of platforms that form a large square area in which you can wander around and pick up the randomly appearing fleas. When there is design it seems overly punishing, like including a bottom less pit under blind jumps.

Your're a big flea gathering smaller fleas
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
THQ quality graphics. Very flat, single tiles. Looks clean, but boring. Whoever did the art design is a big Dr. Suess fan
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
Not bad, not good. Just a short track that loops
