Ghostbusters

Who you gonna call? Someone else

Genre: action - gun

Publisher: Sega

Year: 1990

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Movement is slow but you can fire quickly by mashing. Enemies are hard to avoid due to a low and fast jump. Boss battles are very difficult. They have unavoidable attacks and move too quickly for you to avoid others. Map on pause screen. Fun platforming and such but the difficulty is brutal. Major screen scrolling issues. It only scrolls vertically when you reach the top or bottom of the screen so you often have to jump to move the camera upward and you get blind jumps when going downward. Very annoying.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Labyrinth levels with lots of dead ends and nothing to collect. Just find the mini boss and level boss to finish the level. Item and weapon stores can be used between levels to power up. Give some depth to an otherwise shallow game.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Ghostbusters! Too bad they look so weird, but still, it's the real deal

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

I want to like the character models but the chibi style looks weird when you're trying to look realistic. Besides, nothing else in the game from sprites and environments are sparse and boring.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Some nice songs but the sounds are annoying. The jump sound is particularly goofy. Boing

Overall Score: 49
