Hal's Hole in One Golf

Poor short game

Genre: sports - golf

Publisher: HAL

Year: 1991

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Choose shot direction, club, stance, and then the standard two button power on the stroke. However the meter moves so fast that its really hard to hit consistently, especially when you have to hit anything less than 100%. Putting is especially bad. The direction is hard to get right because the arrow is too short and doesn't show distance.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Lots of modes. Stroke, match, tournament, vs computer, and practice. Checks all the boxes.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

It's golf. No nonsense. No frills. No fuss. No excitement. Mario Golf or Neo Turf Masters this is not.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Everything is so tiny Very simple. There's nothing to look at. Might as well be an Atari game. A decent animation when the ball reaches the pin, but that's as visual as this game gets.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Nice music and sounds for a golf game. Very chill if a bit boring. Kind of like golf.

Overall Score: 46
