James Bond Jr for SNES

James Bond Jr

Game. Bad Game.

Genre: action - gun

Publisher: T*HQ

Year: 1992

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Floaty controls. Once you jump you're committed. Can't attack while jumping. Punch and kick attacks are largely useless. Just use the projectiles - dart gun or exploding soda cans. Yeah, soda cans. Enemies land cheap hits a lot. Ok platforming despite the floaty controls. Shower levels are atrocious. Floaty controls continue in these levels like it's Choplifter. You have to mash the fire buttons (yes, two buttons) which gets tiring really fast. One hit kills as well. Wow they're terrible.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

Every other level is a horizontal shooter. Uhh, how is that on theme? So confusing. Again the shooter levels are terrible and poorly constructed but the platformer levels aren't too bad. They have multiple levels and some moving platforms and whatnot. They're difficult but well designed.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

I vaguely remember this game but not the cartoon it was based on. I was a huge James Bond fan but the idea of a young Bond is stupid.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Looks and feels like a Sega Master System game. Good use of color but very flat and undetailed artwork. Sprites have almost no animation.

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

An assault on the ears. Where's the Bond theme? Where are the sound effects? This game seemingly has no sound other than the music which is awful. The song playing in level 3 is You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) by Dead or Alive. So weird

Overall Score: 35
