Lemmings 2: The Tribes

More is more

Genre: puzzle - platform

Publisher: Sony

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Zero tutorial. You're thrown right into tough levels with a host of Lemming skills, most of which are new and seemingly useless. Diver? Archer? Kayaker? Some helpful streamlined features such as pressing Select to fast forward rather than ramping up the drop rate. Also you can switch between jobs using R and L. However, changing jobs on the Pause screen unpauses the game so you have to choose and quickly pause a lot. Not fun. Other changes include the pausing of the game when scrolling the screen. Jobs differ from level to level so it's hard to tell which one is which. Overall much less enjoyable than the previous game despite the controls be similar with even some improvements. The problem is the jobs which aren't as useful as those in the original game. Maybe it's just me but I got overwhelmed.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

These levels feel like DLC for hardcore fans of the original. I can't get past level 3. Uggh

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Cute Lemmings There's some fun levels with pop culture references like a level obviously patterned after Aliens.

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Same art style as the original. Feels a bit more Amiga-like, with busy backgrounds. Very simple.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

Same silly
