Gameplay

Finally. This is when Madden games start playing the way you remember. Mostly.
Fast speed plus good framerate.
Passing is much improved although running takes a step back. Hard to turn and move upfield. Players bounce off each other a lot making everything feel floaty.

Theme

Finally got NFL license.
Presentation takes a huge leap forward with animated intros and details like player celebrations
Also adds historical teams and All Madden and All (team) squads

Art Style

Looks and animated well.
Pregame intros show off the stadium with parallax scrolling in the crowd.
Rotation and scaling of the field is smooth

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
